Integrative Psychotherapy
Integrative psychotherapy is a modern therapeutic model that combines elements from different scientific approaches, with the aim of achieving a better understanding and support of each individual. Rather than being limited to a single theoretical framework, it emphasizes the individualization of therapy, adapting its tools and methodology to the person’s unique needs, experiences, and goals.
In my own therapeutic practice, the integrative approach is based on three main pillars:
• the person-centered approach of Carl Rogers, which emphasizes the therapeutic relationship, acceptance, and empathy. Within a safe and non-judgmental environment, the individual can express themselves authentically and come closer to their true self.
• Attachment Theory, as developed by John Bowlby, which explores how early relationships influence the way we relate to others and to ourselves. Understanding these patterns can help in developing more stable and fulfilling relationships.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through this approach, dysfunctional thought patterns are identified, and more functional ways of coping with everyday life are developed.
Integrative psychotherapy is not simply a combination of techniques (eclecticism), but a coherent approach that takes into account the complexity of human experience.
The goal is to create a therapeutic process that is meaningful, flexible, and tailored to each individual, enhancing self-awareness, emotional understanding, and the capacity for change.
